History

The Association du PolyLiban (ADPL) is a sister association of the “Association du Polyathlon” in Switzerland (www.polyathlon.ch) and France (www.polyathlon.fr).

The Polyathlon originated in Switzerland (www.polyathlon.ch, www.polyathlon.org) in 2006.

April 2008 a group of Swiss students from Lausanne were supposed to come to Lebanon for a first polyathlon but the trip was canceled for security reasons. This idea was proposed by a Lebanese student in Lausanne that wanted to promote sports in Lebanon. Instead, a group of young Lebanese  were invited to attend a “mini” polyathlon and discover the Patrouille des glaciers in Switzerland in April.

The experience was such a success that the Lebanese group decided to organize the first Polyathlon des Cèdres in October 2008.

20 students from Switzerland, France, Belgium discovered Lebanon during a week through a unique cyclo-tour covering the main areas of Lebanon (go to polyliban2008).

Since then, the ADPL organizes each year a Polyathlon and a PolyLiban with an open participation to all! ( Middle Eastern countries, Swiss and EU university students as well as military participants from the Lebanese Army).
